Artist Statement:

It has been a long road to accepting that at the core of my being I am an artist. The misconception that being a creative inherently equates to societal failure has continually plagued my mind. I frequently ask myself, “What the hell are you doing?” I’ve had many setbacks in my artistic career, ranging from figures of authority to family to my own self confidence. I know I have the capability to do whatever I want in life, but I choose to be an artist for myself. There are two primary reasons why I create. Firstly, and most simply put, creating work brings me joy. Secondly, sharing and listening to personal stories is vital to societal progress. Art is a fantastic way to express these experiences.

It takes courage for a person to share their truth. Every person on Earth has their own reality in which they live. No truth is universal. I love hearing other’s experiences, because no two people have the same story. The more one person can understand and empathize with another human’s condition, the better the world will be. I care deeply about people and the way they think and feel. My work is primarily centered around the ever changing dynamic of human relations. There is always going to be emotional turmoil to explore. And if by some miracle there isn’t, then, there are still things worth caring about.

What makes life worth living is the experience. The beauty of it is in the details.
